【On Kee Classroom: Steamed Australian Frozen Abalone】

Yesterday, our editor received a call from a customer 📞 who enthusiastically praised our recently launched Australian shelled abalone, describing it as incredibly fresh, sweet, and a delightful surprise! 😍 The customer even stocked up on eight boxes to enjoy during the Lunar New Year! Their loyalty likely helped us restock this previously out-of-stock item—kudos to them! 🤣🤣🤣 Shortly after the call, Chef Paul (Paul Wong) shared an incredibly simple way to prepare this Australian shelled abalone: Steamed Australian Frozen Abalone! We’re excited to share it with you all! 🤗

Ingredients:

On Kee Australian sashimi-grade frozen abalone: 5 pieces
Ginger: 5 slices
Spring onion: 3 stalks
Red bell pepper: 1 piece
Coriander: 2 sprigs
Soybean oil: 3 tablespoons
Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
Oil: a small amount

Preparation Steps:

  1. Thaw the abalone at room temperature or in the refrigerator at 4°C.
  2. Use a table knife to gently pry the abalone meat from its shell and remove the entrails.
  3. Scrub the abalone meat clean with a toothbrush to remove any moss. Also scrub the shells clean, as they will be used for plating.
  4. Shred the ginger and spring onion, chop the coriander into small segments, and slice the red bell pepper into small rings.
  5. Arrange the abalone on a plate, placing some ginger shreds on top of each abalone.
  6. Drizzle a small amount of soybean oil (about 1 teaspoon in total) over the abalone.
  7. Bring water to a boil in a wok, then place the abalone in the steamer and steam for 6 to 8 minutes.
  8. After steaming, place spring onion shreds, coriander segments, and red bell pepper rings on top of the abalone.
  9. Finally, drizzle hot oil over the abalone and the plate, then pour soy sauce over the plate to complete the dish.

Recommend:

Sashimi-grade abalone with shell can be used for sashimi, stir-fried, or steamed, with a strong seawater flavor and a very crisp texture.
